Biological Dentistry
Dr. Golab and his team recognize that the dental materials and procedures utilized to treat the teeth and jaws intimately affect your immune system and overall health. We offer dentistry that has the least disturbance to your immune system and your overall body balance.
Many people still have the old fashioned dental fillings. But did you know that these "silver" fillings are at least 55% mercury and only15% silver? To call these fillings "silver/amalgam" fillings is not accurate - it is even misleading.
Mercury is classified by the FDA as a poison, and is quite volatile. This means that it gives off a mercury vapor when exposed to changes in temperature or when you chew. There is enough mercury in one large filling to sufficiently contaminate a 10 square mile lake to restrict fishing.
Biological dentistry follows very strict protocol when removing mercury fillings in order to minimize your exposure to mercury and other harmful metals. We follow, and adhere to, the guidelines of the IAOMT (International Academy Of Oral Medicine And Toxicology), and the IAMFD (international Academy of Mercury Safe Dentists).
Once the mercury filling is removed, we use the most predictable method of tooth restoration- the tooth colored "inlay." While tooth colored fillings have provided an attractive, conservative, and cost effective method of restoring a tooth, their longevity is limited. The alternative technique of the "inlay" provides the longest lasting, most stable, cosmetic dental restoration currently available.
We understand the importance of working closely with your selected health care professional to ensure that you receive the ultimate in alternative dental care. We want to give you enough knowledge to become informed and to make wise choices about your own dental health and the health of your family.
H.R. 4163 -A Bill To Ban Mercury in Dental Fillings
On April 10, 2002 Representative Diane Watson of California (for herself and Representative Dan Burton) introduced H.R. 4163, a bill that will ban mercury dental amalgam (a copy of the bill follows). It is extremely important that you contact your elected representatives and request that they co-sponsor H.R. 4163. Click here for more information or contact www.iamot.org

Comprehensive Care
Our team strongly believes in providing truly personalized care, treating not only the symptom that may have brought you into our office but also, more importantly, the cause of the problem. Your initial visit is an extensive and comprehensive one. This is the time we can take, one on one, to listen to your wants, needs, and concerns. We know that even minor oral health problems can affect your entire body.
Our team will provide you with a thorough and honest evaluation of your overall oral health, ensuring that you make an educated and informed decision about your care.
Your mouth affects your body in many ways, each with a significant impact on your health. For example:
- If your bite is not in alignment, you may experience muscle stress and discomfort in your face, neck, shoulders and even your back. Symptoms such as vertigo and ringing of the ears also may result from a poor bite.
- If your gums are not healthy, they leave an open pathway for the bacteria in your mouth to enter your bloodstream.
- Mercury gases released from amalgam fillings have been linked to Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological disorders.
If you thought dental problems were limited to just your mouth, think again. It's clear that a whole body approach will improve your overall health!
Advanced Hygiene & Periodontal Treatments
Without your gums to hold your teeth in place, your smile would be nonexistent. Healthy gums are the first step to complete oral health. Taking care of periodontal problems is how we begin dental treatment with our new patients. More than 85 percent of people have some level of periodontal or gum disease. Why? Often, it is misdiagnosed or simply ignored. We want your dentistry to last. Healthy gums are critical for that to happen.
The bacteria that cause periodontal disease have also been linked to serious health problems such as heart attacks, poor circulation, strokes, diabetes, premature and/or low birth weight babies, Alzheimer's, and even types of cancer. When we treat periodontal disease, our concern is for your overall health, not just your teeth.
There often are no symptoms. Gums and bone recede, leaving teeth vulnerable to decay, abscesses and tooth loss. The warning signs include the following:
- Bleeding when brushing or flossing
- Puffiness or tenderness of the gums
- Halitosis (bad breath)
- Loose-feeling teeth
A variety of new technologies, such as microsonic scalers make the treatment of this disease more thorough and comfortable than ever before. We can apply antibiotics directly to gums to help kill bacteria that cause the disease. High-tech lasers can really help in making treatment more comfortable. In short, this disease is treatable, even at an advanced stage, to help you keep your teeth and improve your health.
