As your dentists, it is our goal to ensure that your oral hygiene is at its best. Brushing your teeth is the best oral hygiene practice for both adults and kids. To do this, you have to make sure that you maintain your toothbrush’s hygiene standards. Therefore, do you store your toothbrush property? The following are tips on how to keep your toothbrush correctly.
Laying your toothbrush down instead of keeping it upright on either your toothbrush holder or cup holder will allow bacteria to grow in the wet setting. By laying your toothbrush down, water will rest on your brushing plane and create a dump pond, which will prevent your toothbrush from dry quickly. Dump brushing planes provide the best conditions for the survival of bacteria that can cause dental diseases; hence, you should always place it in an upright position.
Your toothbrush should always stay out in the open air to dry properly. Make sure that it has good air circulation. Do not keep it in enclosed spaces such as cabinets or drawers. Hang it using a holder or in a cup holder in the open air. Ensure that you do not keep it close to other toothbrushes. If you are storing them in a cup holder, make sure they are not close to each other. It is better to have more than one cup holder if you have many toothbrushes.
There are different types of toothbrush sanitizers available in the market today. Take your toothbrush and dip it in a glass of sanitizer for around 10 minutes. Practice this occasionally, for it helps make your toothbrush clean and assist in maintaining it during storage or nonuse. Sanitizers also help kill bacteria that hide in your brush.
