Here are things every person with dentures needs to know

Here are X things every person with dentures needs to knowIf you have dentures, then there are some things that you need to know about them and especially on the cleaning, whitening and the repairing process. Visit us to know how to go about these procedures.

Because dentures are constructed of plastic, they cannot be whitened like natural teeth. Clean your dentures every day to remove food and plaque microorganisms to prevent stains. Brushing your dentures with a denture brush or a soft toothbrush will maintain your mouth healthy and prevent them from becoming permanently discolored. Wet the brush and use a non-abrasive soap or denture paste to clean it. Scrub every surface, inside and out, with a soft brush. Inquire with your dentist about the best denture cleaner products that can safely remove most stains. If your dentist or prosthodontist has given you explicit instructions, do not use bleach on your dentures. To clean and disinfect your dentures, dilute household bleach can be used, but don't use bleach until you see your prosthodontist for instructions. Your prosthodontist may need to remove more tenacious stains.

Do not use regular toothpaste to brush your dentures. Toothpastes are supposed to be used on teeth, and they typically contain elements and chemicals that help whiten and strengthen teeth. However, dentures, which are constructed of a very durable plastic, may be harmed by them. Even though the plastic is tough, it is not as tough as tooth enamel and can be scratched if you clean your dentures with toothpaste. Consult your dentist for the best denture detergent and a special denture brush to clean your dentures by hand on a daily basis. Soak your dentures in a water-based cleaning solution overnight after properly rinsing them.

Repairing process

The best course of action is to go back to the prosthodontist who manufactured your dentures and have the damaged denture professionally repaired. It may appear simple to mend, but it is critical that the repair be done correctly to minimize chewing issues and uncomfortable places. After the denture has been repaired, the prosthodontist must inspect and adjust it. It's possible that your denture is too old and no longer fits snugly against your gums, and you'll need a new one.
