Benefits of Dental Implants
Flower Mound, TX
Dental implants are an important aspect of both restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Any patient who has suffered from extensive tooth loss from advanced gum disease, tooth decay, or trauma to the head or mouth, dental implants can solve their problem. Not only will dental implants help with tooth loss but also instill in them the lost confidence of having gaps in their smile.
They are able to support a variety of dental appliances to provide artificial teeth to those who have lost their teeth. Dentures, crowns, and bridges are just a few of the dental appliances used in concert with dental implants.
By creating a permanent anchor point, the use of adhesive gels is no longer necessary. They look and feel like natural teeth and can be cared for as if they were. For those considering dental implants as an option please reach out to our practice at Jonathan J. Golab, DDS, PA to find out more.
Dental Implants, What Are They?
Those patients who have long suffered problems with chewing and speaking or have been suffering from high levels of pain while eating can benefit from dental implants. Utilizing a variety of different materials, they are typically made from porcelain. This is due to the durability of porcelain and the fact it can be colored to match the patient’s existing teeth.
All dental implants have three different sections to them. It is made of an implant, abutment, and crown. The component secured to the jawbone is known as the implant. The abutment is the section screwed into the implant to provide the support for the crown. The crown is the visible section of the implant and is above the gum line.
Dental Implants, Do I Need Them?
It has long been known that patients who wear partial or traditional dentures constantly have to apply adhesive to keep them in place and even then, they can slip or slide at embarrassing moments. Dentures have to be contoured and shaped to ensure a proper fit over time. Dental implants do not require any of this and they do not have to be removed. They are a permanent component of the patient’s mouth and can be cared for in the same way as their natural teeth.
Dentures generally require patients to alter what they eat. That is not a concern with dental implants. There is no need to eat soft foods or to avoid the foods patients enjoy.
Placement of Dental Implants
For dental implants to be properly placed, patients do need to come to multiple office visits. At the first office visit, our staff will remove the affected teeth and any decaying tissue to ensure a clean placement location. For patients that the supportive bone structure is diminished it will have to be restored before implants can be placed.
Through the use of digital technology, we are able to manufacture artificial teeth to the proper measurements to ensure a snug fit. Those patients in need of a lasting, permanent solution to their tooth loss and have considered using dental implants should come to see us at Jonathan J. Golab, DDS, PA. We can always discuss the details. Come see us or give us a call at (469) 444-7919 to find out more.
