At Jonathan J. Golab, DDS, PA, our goal is to prevent dental problems before they occur. Unfortunately, this is not always possible due to poor oral hygiene, genetics, infrequent dental exams, and other risk factors. Our restorative services are designed to improve the function and aesthetics of your smile, as well as your overall oral health.

Rubber Dam

If you are a dentist and not using a rubber dam, then you should not be doing dentistry. It is imperative if you want to achieve high quality, predictable dentistry. The rubber dam is a 6-by-6-inch square piece non-allergenic nitrile that is used to isolate the teeth we are working on. I guesstimate that less than 5% of dentists use this. Why? They are in a rush hurrying patients through treatment and it’s just an “inconvenience.” Simply said a rubber dam isolates the teeth from contamination, and of equal importance, you do not swallow toxic chemicals, pieces of diseased tooth, instruments, blood, etc., etc.

Dental Filling

Tooth-colored fillings are utilized to restore minor to moderate instances of tooth decay. When the decay or filling would be large, I always opt for the longevity of Onlays. We use air abrasion which is powdered toothpaste under pressure, to “spray away” your decay, without the use or need for anesthetic….in “most” instances.

Onlays

So often you are told that you need a crown. It may be because you have a large filling, the tooth is cracked, decayed, or simply broken. So many people ask “is there an alternative way to fix teeth without doing a crown?” Yes there is, and the procedure is called an Onlay. Onlays are a very conservative method to restore teeth. They remove only the broken, decayed, or weak parts of your teeth. They do not grind your teeth down into pegs. They preserve and do not touch the healthy, unaffected parts of your teeth.

Dental Crown

Though I do not recommend crowns, sometimes you need an existing one replaced. Rest assured that if we have to replace a crown, it will be all porcelain, clean, neat, and precise.

Dental Bridge

A porcelain bridge is a permanent solution to fill in a missing tooth gap, and is something that does not come out of your mouth. It is “fixed” in place by adhesive cement. Two restorations are placed on each tooth on either side of the gap, with the fake or “pontic” tooth glued to the teeth on either side of the gap. It really is a fast, well tolerated, and gorgeous option to replace missing teeth.

Implant Restoration

Implants are another excellent option to replace a missing tooth gap. They are essentially “artificial roots” that are placed in the jawbone by a Surgeon, and I can then attach a crown to the implant by a “connector,” also known as an “abutment.” The process is more expensive than a bridge, takes longer, and can take anywhere from 3-9 months to heal and be restored. A bridge can be completed in 3-4 weeks.
