Ingredients that you should expect to find on any toothpaste include adhesives, flavors, colorings, detergents, humectants, binders, and preservatives.
While there are not that toxic, artificial flavors offer no value. On the other hand, unlike artificial flavors, essential oils have a variety of benefits such as antifungal and antibacterial properties. With essential oils, you do not need artificial flavors.
When getting toothpaste for your child, look out for aspartame and sodium saccharin. Though artificial sweeteners are much better than sugar, when it comes to sweetening the toothpaste, your child might have issues upon swallowing it.
Other ingredients that you should avoid include microbeads, fluoride, parabens, propylene glycol, sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, and titanium dioxide nanoparticles. While certain ingredients might not be harmful to your child, it’s essential to ask for our opinion during your regular visits so that we may be able to advise you accordingly.
